Imagine turning the key and hearing the roar of the engine and the excitement that brews from wit. That is the magical FD Lux car hire exists to deliver and it is why more people than ever are choosing to rent something remarkable and inspirin rather than settle for something adequate.g

At FD Lux, our car hire fleet spans everything from the everyday to rare. BMW M-cars and Porsche 911s at one end, Koenigsegg and Pagani at the other. This guide walks through the full range what each category is for, which cars stand out, what they actually cost to hire in practice, and how to choose the right one for your occasion.

Understanding the Tiers: Hypercar, Supercar, Luxury Performance

Luxury car hire is not one market. It is three, and knowing which one you are shopping in makes the decision far simpler.

Hypercars

The rarest machines on the road, Hypercars are the top 0.01% of production cars: limited-run, seven-figure machines built in the low hundreds, often pre-sold to existing collectors before the covers come off. Most people will never see one in traffic, let alone drive one. Renting is, realistically, the only route for the overwhelming majority of enthusiasts.

Supercars

Extraordinary performance cars, Supercars, are still spectacular, but built in greater numbers and designed to be driven. A Lamborghini Huracán or a Ferrari SF90 will draw a crowd at every fuel stop while remaining genuinely drivable on a British B-road or a motorway run to the coast.

Luxury and performance

This is the category most people actually book for weddings, corporate travel, airport runs and weekends away: Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-AMG and Lamborghini's SUV line. Space for passengers and luggage, ride quality you can live with for hours, and the kind of arrival that changes the temperature of a room.

The Most Spectacular Hypercars You Can Hire in Britain

This is the part of the fleet that stops conversations. Each of these cars represents pinicle in car engineering, and each is available through FD Lux.

McLaren Senna

Named after Ayrton Senna and built in a run of just 500, the Senna is the most uncompromising road car McLaren has ever produced. Its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 produces around 789bhp, but the headline is the aerodynamics: an active rear wing and a body shaped entirely around downforce, generating enough grip to pull cornering forces most road cars simply cannot access. It is not a comfortable car and it was never meant to be. It is a track weapon that happens to be road legal and one of the most visually arresting things on any British road.

Ferrari LaFerrari

Ferrari's 'holy trinity' hybrid hypercar, limited to 499 coupés and built around a 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V12 paired with Ferrari's HY-KERS electric system for a combined output near 950bhp. The LaFerrari is significant not just for its performance but for what it represents: the moment Ferrari proved electrification could make a V12 more dramatic rather than less. That naturally aspirated soundtrack, now effectively extinct at this level, is reason enough on its own.

Koenigsegg Regera

The Regera is the most technically radical car in our fleet. Koenigsegg built just 80, each using the company's Direct Drive system a single-speed transmission with no conventional gearbox at all, combining a twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors for a combined figure in excess of 1,500bhp. The result is relentless, gearless acceleration unlike anything else on sale. Add the robotised 'Autoskin' body panels that open at the touch of a button and you have a car that feels a decade ahead of everything around it.

Pagani Huayra

If the Koenigsegg is engineering theatre, the Pagani is art. Horacio Pagani's Huayra pairs an AMG-built twin-turbo V12 with active aerodynamic flaps at each corner that adjust individually under braking and cornering. But the real story is inside: exposed gear linkages machined like jewellery, quilted leather, carbon-fibre weave finished to a standard no volume manufacturer attempts. Fewer than 100 coupés were built. It is arguably the most beautiful hypercar of its generation.

Ferrari SF90 XX and F80

The SF90 XX Stradale is Ferrari's first road-legal 'XX' programme car a track-focused evolution of the SF90 with around 1,016bhp and a fixed rear wing, Ferrari's first on a road car in decades. The F80, meanwhile, is Ferrari's newest flagship hypercar and the direct successor to the LaFerrari, using a twin-turbo V6 derived from Ferrari's Le Mans-winning endurance programme alongside electric assistance. Both are limited-run and both are exceptionally hard to access which is precisely why hiring makes sense.

Available Supercar Fleet For Hire

Lamborghini Huracán EVO and EVO Spider

Still one of the last naturally aspirated V10s in production, and that alone makes the Huracán special in 2026. Around 631bhp, a 8,500rpm redline and a sound that no turbocharged or electrified rival can replicate. The Spider version adds a folding roof which, for a British summer weekend or a wedding exit, is the version most clients ask for.

Lamborghini Revuelto V12

Lamborghini's flagship and the replacement for the Aventador: a new 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 supplemented by three electric motors for over 1,000bhp. It is the most powerful road-going Lamborghini ever made, and it keeps the V12 alive in an era when almost everyone else has abandoned it. Visually it is pure hypercar and it draws crowds accordingly.

Ferrari SF90 Stradale

Ferrari's plug-in hybrid flagship: a twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors for roughly 986bhp and all-wheel drive. It will run in near-silent electric mode through a town centre and then deliver sub-2.5-second acceleration on an open road. For anyone who wants maximum performance with everyday manners, it is hard to beat.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS and 911 Turbo S

Two very different answers to the same question. The GT3 RS is a naturally aspirated, high-revving, aerodynamically extreme track car with one of the largest rear wings ever fitted to a production Porsche. The Turbo S is the all-weather, all-wheel-drive alternative devastatingly fast, endlessly usable and the car many enthusiasts consider the most complete performance package on sale. If you want a supercar you could genuinely drive every day, this is it.

Audi R8 V10, BMW M4 Convertible and M3 Competition

The most accessible end of the supercar fleet, and the best starting point for a first-time hire. The R8 shares its naturally aspirated V10 with the Huracán in a more forgiving, more comfortable package and now that production has ended, it is a genuinely appreciating modern classic. The M4 Convertible and M3 Competition offer around 503bhp, four seats, real boot space and the option of all-wheel drive, making them ideal for longer rentals, road trips and weather that refuses to cooperate.

Luxury and Presence: Rolls-Royce, AMG and the Super-SUVs

These are the cars that really level up your wedding and create a spectacle for photo opportunities, but for corporate and airport bookings the priority is luxury comfort and relaxation.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan (Series I and Series II) and Black Badge

The Cullinan is the most imposing SUV on British roads and the default choice for high-profile weddings and executive travel. A 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12, near-silent cabin, coach doors and the Starlight Headliner a hand-fitted fibre-optic night sky in the roof lining. Series II brings a sharpened front end and an updated interior. The Black Badge treatment darkens every piece of exterior brightwork, sharpens the throttle and gives the car a considerably more assertive character. Hiring one is a genuine occasion in itself.

Mercedes-AMG G63

Few vehicles are as instantly recognisable as the G-Wagon. Boxy, upright, unapologetic and, in AMG G63 form, powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing around 577bhp with an exhaust note that announces itself several streets ahead. It is a genuine off-roader with three locking differentials that has become the definitive luxury status vehicle, and one of the most consistently requested cars in our entire hire fleet.

mercedes AMG G Wagon white

Lamborghini Urus S and Urus Performante

The car that transformed Lamborghini's business, and a genuinely brilliant machine: a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 657bhp in a five-seat SUV that will comfortably out-accelerate most sports cars while carrying luggage for four. The Performante drops ride height, adds a wider track and sheds weight for sharper handling. For anyone who wants supercar drama without sacrificing space, the Urus is the obvious answer and it is our most popular crossover between the hire and chauffeur sides of the business.

How Luxury Car Hire Actually Works at FD Lux

The practicalities matter as much as the metal. Here is how our car rental service is structured.

  • Flexible duration: vehicles are available hourly, daily, weekly or monthly, across the UK so a single-afternoon photoshoot and a month-long executive rental are both straightforward.

  • Mileage: hires include an allowance of 100 miles per day. Additional mileage is charged at £4.50 per mile, subject to vehicle.

  • Delivery and collection: available UK-wide at additional cost, so the car can arrive at your home, hotel, venue or office rather than requiring a trip to us.

  • Security deposit: deposits start from £1,000 and vary according to the vehicle hired.

  • Driver requirements: a minimum driver age of 27 applies across the self-drive fleet.

Because FD Lux operates both a self-drive rental fleet and a full chauffeur service, you are not locked into one or the other. Many clients combine them a chauffeured Rolls-Royce for the ceremony and a self-drive Huracán for the following day, or a chauffeured airport transfer at the start of a trip with a self-drive supercar waiting at the hotel.

Choosing the Right Car for the Occasion

Weddings

Rolls-Royce Cullinan or Black Badge for the bridal car nothing photographs better, and the rear space accommodates a dress properly. A Huracán EVO Spider or Urus works beautifully as a second vehicle or for the couple's departure.

Milestone birthdays and celebrations

This is where the hypercars earn their keep. A Senna, LaFerrari or Huayra for a 30th, 40th or 50th creates something genuinely unrepeatable and the photography alone justifies it.

Corporate and executive travel

The Cullinan, G63 and Urus offer presence with genuine passenger comfort. For multi-day client entertaining, a chauffeured option removes parking, routing and liability entirely.

Content, photography and video

Hypercars and the more theatrical supercars are in constant demand from creators, brands and production companies. Hourly hire with delivery to location makes short shoots practical.

Driving weekends

The GT3 RS, 911 Turbo S, Huracán and R8 are the cars to choose here spectacular on the Yorkshire Dales, the Lakes or a run to Scotland, without the compromises that make a hypercar exhausting over distance.
